Books Written by POC for Kids and Adults

I was an avid reader as a kid. I never really identified with characters in books as deeply as I did characters on TV, but I still just accepted the stories as is. As with a lot of things—the importance of nuance hit me later in life. It's in the details of the character descriptions. Or how they handle a particular situation. It's a big reason as to why movies like "Get Out" are so great. Because Jordan Peele knew the horror is not just in the physical violence the characters experience, but the commonplace micro-aggressions. Those occur more often but aren't as openly recognized as hurtful by all audiences.
